My goddaughter loves 'Winnie the Pooh', so naturally, her theme was much easier. Only, she hates pink. Ha, go figure. My niece was not specific on her preference, but there were some ideas thrown out like 'Rock Band' (baby-daddy's choice) or 'Fokai' (a local brand). Then I recalled the clothing that her elder son is always wearing 'Quiksilver'. Once the theme was decided, lightbulbs started going off.
The plan was that I would take care of my goddaughter's background & table setup and my nieces' would be taken care of by her godmother. This arrangement made it so much easier to concentrate on completing the menu and the one theme. Well, there was a family emergency in my nieces' godmother's family so she had asked me to take care of both girls' setups. I was freaked, but then I took it as a small hiccup. I already knew the theme, I just had to get funding & the materials.
Someone had already made the pamper cake, but I needed to personalize it to follow the girls' themes. I disassembled part of the pamper cake to make it work. Once I got through the pamper cakes, the money boxes (for monetary gifts) were next. I wanted to give my goddaughter a 'Hunny Pot', just like Pooh has. I had made one for my nephew's first birthday about five years ago, and finding the core was harder this time, but I called around and found something that worked. The 'Quiksilver' theme was tricky, but I ended up turning the logo into a 3D money box.
As you can see, it all turned out quite nice. The girls loved it and that's what made all the hardwork, late nights, blood & sweat worth it.
