I drive 13 miles every day to work and another 13 miles back home. It probably doesn't seem that long to someone living in the U.S. mainland, but for someone from Guam, it sure is a long drive. It's the traffic that really makes it long. There are thousands of cars on the one highway (if you can even call it that) "Marine Corps Drive", every morning and evening. Sometimes I stay back at the office in hopes that the traffic would die down and the drive home would be somewhat tolerable. Other than the traffic, the days at work can be stressful at times, but we also have some slow days that make the day drag on longer. I'm sure you can imagine how that goes.
So here comes Friday and although it seems that I'm going to get a chance to take a break, it's not always the case. Sure, I get to sleep in that extra hour or two, but once the banks open, it's back to work again. Work for the family. I try to pay whatever bills I can via online banking, but there are those companies that refuse to grow with technology. So those are the ones where we have to stand in line to make our payments. I also try to schedule appointments on the weekends (dental, medical, vet visits, etc.). It's sometimes hard to get away during the work week, not to mention all the leave hours that have been used on other . And of course, let's not forget the kiddies activities. Oh Yes, there's lots of that (I'll blog more on that subject later).
There's CCD (Church Classes), Soccer, Basketball, Cultural Dancing, friends' birthdays, movie plans, etc. Of course, I still have to try to fit in some laundry time or even try to visit family. Sometimes my sister takes these last minute trips to the beach, for a barbecue, and they call to invite us. No hesitation from my kiddies, of course. They love the beach & swimming. My son, I think he was born to be a fisherman. No kidding there. He can take a small piece of hotdog (for bait), a farely long enough fishing line, a tiny hook, maybe a long stick/twig (makeshift rod) and actually catch fish...it's amazing to me.
Sorry, I got off the subject for a moment...
This weekend is no different. It starts off tonight actually. My husband has his first basketball practice for this league that his work is participating. Tomorrow, two of my kiddies have a dental appointment that will take a little over an hour. Then I have a funeral to attend. My grandfathers' brother had recently passed and he was the last of their generation from my mom's side of the family (I'm going to blog more on this subject later, as well). I'm hoping we can make it before the mass because we should be out of the dental clinic around 10:30 AM but the mass might start at 12:00 PM, but it's in Agat. That's about 24 miles from the dental clinic. I'm also hoping to have laundry taken care of on Saturday night so Sunday can be a relaxing day. Oops, my husband just called and began talking about trimming the yard... so there goes our Sunday. I also try to make it a point to clean the car inside and out on Sunday mornings, but it's not always possible...
Okay this blog is starting to be Neverending itself so let me finish of by saying... It all really is Neverending, isn't it? But I do it for the love of my family... can you blame me?
